FS Extra 👣 Take a quiet Christmas moment with me (along with a few gifts)

At Christmas, I tend to think less about what was produced or achieved and more about who quietly walked alongside me through the year.

If you are reading this, you are one of those people.

Whether you opened every message or only dipped in when something caught your eye, your presence matters. Attention is a precious thing and the fact that you chose to stay connected means more than I could ever properly measure.

Christmas in Australia has its own feel. Longer days. A different pace. Christmas often arrives with sunshine rather than snow, yet the emotional pull is just as strong. It can be joyful and relaxed, reflective and tender, sometimes all in the same afternoon.

This year has also brought its share of sadness and we remember those affected by recent events. Take care of yourselves and offer kindness and support wherever it is needed.

As the year winds down, many of us take stock quietly. We notice what changed us. We notice what tested us. We notice small moments of growth that never made it onto any list and yet mattered deeply.

I wrote a simple Christmas message to acknowledge the year you have lived and to give yourself a little breathing space before the next one begins.

What I hope comes through is reassurance. Reassurance that you do not need to keep pushing right now. Reassurance that it is okay to let this season be imperfect and still meaningful. Reassurance that the quiet ways you show up in your own life count more than you realise.

Christmas has a way of stirring memories and expectations. Old habits resurface. Comparisons creep in. We can feel pressure to be cheerful, organised, generous and grateful all at once. Sometimes the kindest thing we can do is lower the bar and meet ourselves where we actually are.

Some readers like to return to these reflections slowly over December and early January. For those who prefer something tangible rather than another page that disappears after reading, there are several gifts at the page for you.

Take a quiet moment with this holiday greeting

This message is not meant to fix anything. It is meant to keep you company for a few quiet moments. To remind you that steadiness is enough. That reflection does not need to be heavy. That a new year can begin gently rather than with demands.

Before the year ends, I want to say thank you. Thank you for your trust, your time and your willingness to engage thoughtfully in a noisy world. Forward Steps exists because people like you choose meaning over hype.

If you feel like spending a few quiet minutes with this Christmas message or sharing it with someone who might appreciate a calmer note at this time of year, you will find it here.

Thank you for being part of this community in your own way. I hope your Christmas includes ease, laughter and space to breathe.

May the weeks ahead unfold without pressure. May the new year meet you with clarity, steadiness and a sense that you are already enough.
